C-Roads Specification Release 2.1
On 11th March 2024, the German Federal Agency for Information Security has made publicly available the first Protection Profile for a Roadside ITS Station Gateway (BSI-CC-PP-0122-2024) compliant with the EU Common Criteria Certification scheme. More information on the website of the BSI (https://www.bsi.bund.de/SharedDocs/Zertifikate_CC/PP/aktuell/PP_0122.html)
This profile serves as a foundational element, along with EU policy documents, to elevate C-ITS stations and services to security Level 1 and/or Level 2 within the European Union C-ITS Security Credential Management System (EU CCMS), anticipated within the upcoming year or possibly sooner. This marks the start of the product certification process for industry suppliers and their offerings.
The C-Roads Release 2.1.0 includes several new use cases, particularly focusing on smart routing in urban areas and toll station navigation. Additionally, numerous improvements and adjustments have been made based on feedback received from partners, external stakeholders, and parties involved related to the C-ITS specifications. One notable refinement is the adaptation of IVI messages to support the Automated Vehicle Guidance (AVG) use case, underlining the connection between C-ITS and Cooperative, Connected, and Automated Mobility (CCAM).
